What We Keep, and What We Never Ask For

This is a small band’s website. It is built to be read, not to read you. Here is the short list of what happens when you visit, write to us or leave an amp on our bench.

What this site is

The site is a set of plain pages. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no comment boxes, no shopping cart and no newsletter form. Nothing on it asks for your name. The company behind it is 24th Street Roots & Tube Audio Collective LLC, at 1515 Michigan Ave, Corktown, Detroit, MI 48216.

What your browser hands over

Whenever any browser asks a server for a page, it sends its network address, the time and the page it wants. The machine that serves our pages may write those details to an ordinary log file, and that file is used to keep the site running and to spot something broken. We do not run analytics. We do not set cookies. We do not build profiles or sell lists, because we have none.

Fonts from Google

The headlines, body text and readouts use three typefaces, Rozha One, Archivo and VT323, delivered by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google sees that request the way any server would. If you would rather avoid that, a browser setting that blocks web fonts will do it. The pages still work, in your default fonts.

The calculator stays in your browser

The bias calculator and horn transposer on the home page run in your browser. The plate voltage you type, the tube you pick and the key you choose are worked out on your own machine and are never sent anywhere. We could not look at them if we wanted to.

When you write to us

Email to booking@the24thstreetwailers.com or bench@the24thstreetwailers.com lands in our inbox, and Harlan Kovacs reads it. We keep a message thread for as long as there is a gig or a repair to talk about, and afterward for the length of time our accountant says we must keep business records. We use what you tell us to answer you and to do the work. We do not pass your address to anyone, and we do not add you to a list.

Amps, reels and the people attached to them

If you leave an amplifier at the bench, we write down your name, a way to reach you and the amp’s model, serial number and condition. If you ask for a tape transfer or hand us a reel, the audio is yours, and we treat it as private. Transferred files are delivered to you directly and are not published, posted or indexed. The bench notebook that goes with an amp is part of the repair record, and a copy goes home with the amp.

Asking us to forget you

Write to bench@the24thstreetwailers.com and say what you would like removed. If we are not required to hold the record for tax or insurance reasons, we will delete it and tell you when it is gone. If we do have to keep it, we will say so and explain for how long.

If this changes

Should we add anything that touches your data, such as a mailing list or an analytics tool, we will update this page first and change the date at the top of it. The page was last reviewed on October 28, 2026.
